The designers Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzù designed the Flos Parentesi back in 1971 - an innovation in flexible lighting at the time. Today, the Flos classic is an integral part of the product range and, thanks to its timelessness and functionality, is as popular as ever.
On the occasion of Milano Design Week 2021, Flos celebrated the 50th anniversary of Parentesi with Giovanna Castiglioni and Giacomo Manzoni, daughter and son respectively of the designer of the iconic, best-selling Flos lamp, and presented two new colors, created after a careful study of the work of the two champions were selected.
The new Parentesi livery in Orange Signal pays homage to the color that Pio Manzù used for all his prototypes made for FIAT.
The design of the Parentesi proves to be extremely intelligent - the floor lamp consists of a round base and a steel cable that is stretched from the base to the ceiling. The lamp body made of injection-molded elastomer is attached to it, on which the lamp holder with the light bulb hangs. The lamp body acts as a kind of cart as it can slide effortlessly along the steel cable, which also allows the height of the headlight to be adjusted. In this way, the Parentesi allows zoned lighting according to the needs of the user.
The successful and timeless Flos lamp is available in two versions: The Parentesi D has an integrated dimmer, while the normal Parentesi can be switched on and off with a switch on the lamp holder. Whether as a reading light or for illuminating seating areas in private or public spaces - Parentesi always appeals with its delicate yet ultra-modern character.

Characteristics

Adjustable lamp with direct light. The height of the lamp can be adjusted by moving a painted, shaped steel tube on a steel cable (4000 mm long) that extends from the ceiling to the floor. The lamp head is made of injection-molded black elastomer, which houses a switch. The counterweight is made of silicone-coated cast iron in the color of the lamp body. There is an electronic dimmer on the cable that allows you to regulate the brightness of the light.
