Pendant lamp - model 1 Skygarden

FLOS SKYGARDEN PENDANT LAMP

The unique Skygarden pendant light was awarded the Edida design prize in 2008. The lamp exudes an almost sacred atmosphere as the hemispherical shape is reminiscent of a dome and the plaster decoration on the inside of the lamp could be displayed in a church.
With its two-part design, the pendant light combines a simple surface with a richly decorated interior.
The design was made possible through a complex and time-consuming manufacturing process.
Marcel Wanders found the inspiration for this pendant lamp in his former house. The white ceiling was decorated with floral ornaments and he called this ceiling his "Skygarden". It was his garden that needed no water, no sun and no care.
When he moved, he had a desire to take this blanket with him and designed this fabulous lamp, a design he shares with us today. Skygarden is a hemispherical shade cast in plaster and painted white inside, the lamp emits a diffused light.

The light source is not included.

Hanging lamp for diffuse light. Hemispherical diffuser made of mechanically treated cast plaster, painted white inside. Exterior finish: rust, glossy black, glossy white or matte gold. Plaster dome bracket made of white liquid painted die-cast aluminum alloy. Upper bearing bush made of die-cast aluminum alloy, polished, protected by transparent paint on the entire visible part. Top cable connector and locking ring made from black injection molded PC (polycarbonate). Profiled and galvanized set screws. Upper and lower shock absorbers made of transparent injection molded silicone. Carrier lamp and boom made of injection molded black PPS (polyphenylene sulfide). Diffuser made of blown and overlaid opal glass. Fastening ring made of die-cast aluminum alloy with alodine coating. Frieze Skygarden 1 in photo-etched and mechanically drawn AISI 304 steel. Ceiling in die-cast and galvanized steel. Gray, pink PA6 (nylon) injection molded fastener.
