Royal Botania is a Belgian design brand specializing in high-quality outdoor furniture, umbrellas, planters, and outdoor lighting. Since the early 1990s, the company has been committed to furnishing outdoor spaces with the same design quality, functionality, and sophistication as sophisticated interiors. Today, its collections can be found worldwide in private gardens, hotels, restaurants, resorts, and on yachts.
Royal Botania was founded by Kris Van Puyvelde, who continues to shape the brand’s design direction to this day. The design philosophy combines aesthetics, ergonomics, and technical construction. Furniture should not only be visually appealing, but also comfortable, sturdy, and suitable for long-term outdoor use. In addition to its in-house design team, Royal Botania collaborates with select external designers.
The product line includes garden chairs, armchairs, bar stools, dining tables, Side tables, lounge chairs, sofas, modular seating sets, sun loungers, daybeds, and garden benches. Well-known collections include Organix Lounge, Archy, Regaliz, Furniz, Mozaix Lounge, Conix, Folia, Calypso, Mambo, Zenhit, Alura, Ninix, and Styletto. The various series range from clean, architectural designs to softer, organically shaped lounge concepts.
Teak plays a central role in the collections. Royal Botania uses mature, high-quality teak, which is particularly well-suited for outdoor use due to its natural durability. The wood has a warm appearance and, without any surface treatment, develops a silvery-gray patina over time.
To ensure a more responsible long-term supply of the material, the company founded Green Forest Plantation Co. in 2011. According to the brand, more than 250,000 teak trees have been planted on an area of approximately 200 hectares. The company’s own plantation is intended to enable better traceability and controlled management of this valuable raw material.
In addition to teak, Royal Botania uses materials such as powder-coated aluminum, stainless steel, ceramic, natural stone, weather-resistant rope, and technical outdoor fabrics. Metal allows for lightweight yet sturdy structures, while ceramic and natural stone create particularly durable tabletops. Woven elements and upholstery give the furniture a softer, cozier feel.
Production has been taking place since 2002 at the company’s own facility near Bangkok. According to Royal Botania, approximately 400 skilled workers are employed there in a facility covering about 13,000 m². By monitoring the manufacturing processes, the brand aims to ensure consistent quality. The company also highlights safe working conditions and benefits such as meals, housing, medical care, English lessons, and childcare.
In recent years, the company has further expanded its control over the processing of its most important material. With its own teak factory in Ayutthaya, Royal Botania now oversees additional stages of wood processing and production.
In addition to furniture, Royal Botania designs an extensive lighting collection. It includes bollard lights, floor lamps, wall sconces, and ceiling lights for pathways, facades, patios, and covered outdoor areas. Materials used include aluminum, stainless steel, brass, teak, granite, and handcrafted glass. Well-known series include Ropy, Spiky, Tesla, Q-Bic, Dome, Beacon, and Parker.
Sun protection is also part of the holistic outdoor concept. Collections such as Palma, Solaz, Bloom, Shady, Oazz, and Anamon offer solutions for both private and commercial outdoor spaces. These are complemented by planters such as Bariq, Botaniq, and Cuprum, as well as outdoor rugs and decorative pillows.
