Chair CH24 - Walnut

The CH24 chair from Carl Hansen & Søn, also known as the Wishbone Chair or Y-chair, is a timeless classic created by the renowned designer Hans Wegner. Inspired by antique Chinese seating furniture, this chair combines tradition with modern design and impresses with its elegant design language.

Made from solid walnut wood and artfully lacquered in black, the CH24 is not only a visual delight, but also a tactile one. The backrest, which also serves as an armrest, is steam-curved and allows a proximity to the table that ensures both comfort and functionality. More than 100 work steps and 120 meters of paper cord are required to complete this design classic. Every stage of production is carried out with the utmost care by experienced craftsmen in the Danish manufactory.

Sustainability is a priority at Carl Hansen & Søn. The wood used comes predominantly from FSC-certified and sustainably managed forests. Even the smallest scraps of wood are used as fuel in a local district heating plant to supply over 400 households in Gelsted, Denmark, with heat.

Optimal use and care

Wood :

Wood is a living, natural material and should therefore always be cleaned as gently as possible. Regular cleaning with a damp cloth ensures that the furniture always looks good and has a beautiful patina. Never use aggressive cleaning agents to clean furniture.

Solid wood furniture should not be placed near heat sources such as radiators and wood stoves or stored in unheated rooms.
Wood is a natural material and therefore no two pieces are alike. Small knots, visible growth spots and color variations are part of the natural appearance of wood. The parts of a piece of furniture are always assembled according to color and structure so that the piece of furniture is beautiful and complete.

Paper cord

The paper cords used at Carl Hansen & Søn are made from sustainable, FSC-certified materials. We use two different colors of paper cords: natural and black. The natural paper cord is made from unbleached paper while the black cord is dyed.

Normal cleaning and maintenance
Paper cord typically requires little or no maintenance as the durable paper cord is designed to last for years. If you want to clean the seat, you can wipe it with a well-wrung soft cloth and a neutral, colorless soap solution. It is not recommended to do this too often as it may cause unnecessary wear and tear on the paper cord. The paper cord has a thin layer of wax that prevents staining. However, discoloration of the paper cord can occur if strong liquids, e.g. E.g. red wine, fruit juice or strongly colored food can be spilled on the cord.
