THONET CHAIR 209
The design was developed by the Thonet brothers as early as 1900. Like the original bentwood chair model, model 214 (No. 14), the THONET 209 also consists of only six parts. Thanks to its aesthetic reduction combined with its organic shape, it almost looks like a sculpture, but is not too heavy to visually overload a room. The seat made of cane mesh ensures the necessary seating comfort.
The Swiss architect Le Corbusier was enthusiastic about the chair and used it in many of his buildings, including in the Weissenhof Estate in Stuttgart in 1927. He confirmed that this chair “had something noble about it.” Many decades later, the THONET 209 has become a real classic that impresses with its wide range of possible uses.
